PROFIBUS COURSE
DESIGN & INSTALLATION
Target group
The course is targeting technical personnel who will be involved in design, installation, and maintenance of
PROFIBUS solutions.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge regarding automation technology and equipment.
User of Windows based PCs.
Course content
Basic introduction to PROFIBUS technology/solutions.
The course will cover topics such as:
• General introduction to the PROFIBUS standard
• Cable/RS 485 technology
• Profibus PA cabling
• Grounding and shielding
• Repeaters
• Network components
• Addressing, bus parameters and cycle times
• Setting up a network/setting bus parameters
• Practical exercises in connecting/replacing components
• Practical exercises in setup/addressing of components
• Testing/documentation of PROFIBUS network by use of test tools
• Strategy of fault finding
• Troubleshooting/Diagnostics
Objectives
Upon completion of this course the attendant will have obtained:
• Basic understanding of PROFIBUS network
• Skills in design & installation of PROFIBUS network
• Skills in setup/test and diagnostics of PROFIBUS network

This course runs with min. 4 max. 10 participants.
